Shopping Tip of the Month - Look for "Links" pages

You may not have thought about this, but most visitors don't make a purchase. A website that can convert 1% to 3% of its visitors into customers is considered to be doing really well. What about those other 97% - 99% of the visitors? They were looking for something else. If you think about it, even you are probably part of the 99% more often than the 1%. Supposed you were looking for patio furniture and you find our website Outdoor Patio Furniture. Odds are pretty high that we don't have what you want, because we only sell what less than 3% of our visitors want. However, you do want patio furniture. So, before you leave the website, look at our links page. Search engines are rewarding websites these days for linking to other similar websites. This is creating an incentive for us website owners to find other relevant websites to link to. For example, I get more points for linking to another furniture website than I do for linking to a dollhouse website. But, aren't I linking to my competition? Not exactly. I've carefully chosen the websites I link to, so that they carry similar or related items, but not exactly the same items. They in return, link to me. This way, we each get more traffic. In fact, if you go to our links page, you'll see that even our banner ads at the bottom are related to our market niche. So, start looking for links pages when you're shopping online. The website the search engine returns might not have what you want, but it might link to the site that does!

Shopping Review - QVC

Anyone who's watched QVC (a "home shopping" channel) knows that to buy on TV, you watch for the item number, call the phone number, and then give out your credit card number. But, what if you miss the item number or can't find your credit card? Buy it online! The home shopping channels, like QVC, have websites for you to buy the items featured on TV. My wife, in fact, has purchased some things from QVC online, and it's pretty easy. She's purchased scrap booking materials online, and when researching for this article, I found that they even have featured the diamonique ring she just bought from QVC (for only $120!!) for her high school reunion (after losing her pregenancy weight, her wedding ring still doesn't fit, disappointing because it's a good ring for showing up old classmates!). Well, if you go to QVC.com, you'll see the ring featured (a coincidence actually). If you were to buy it or anything else, you should find the experience pretty easy. Just drill down through the categories to what you want, and make the purchase. Shipping's pretty reasonable, and they'll give you an estimate of its delivery date. My wife was very pleased with the scrap booking materials she bought. We'll see about the ring. We recommend QVC.com »

Preview

We're looking to carry more items to serve you better. We're looking into starting a custom crafts website, and considering adding custom cushions to our cedar furniture website. Finally, we've found some wonderful Amish quilts which we hope to sell in the near future on our gifts website. We're looking for ideas! You're the ones we want to serve, so if you've had trouble finding any types of items on the internet, go ahead and suggest it to us. We'll look around and see if we can't find a manufacturer looking to sell!
